​Dr K. Acholonu is a pioneer of the food fortification Industry in Nigeria. An expert in the formulation, design, and production of micronutrient premixes and blends. He has over 35 years of industry experience in the micronutrient sphere.

Dr. K. Acholonu bagged a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Howard University in Washington, DC, in 1970, a Doctorate in organic Chemistry from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, in 1975, and a postdoctoral fellowship at the John Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1976.  Extensive business and financial management training was obtained at Lagos Business School (CEP-6) in 1996, the JFK School of Government at Harvard University in Boston in 2002, INSEAD Business School in Fontainbleau, France, in 2002 and a recipient of the Gerald Clark Blue Ribbon award for food fortification by UNICEF and CANET in the same year. He attended Finance for Nonfinancial Executives at Harvard Business School in 2009, and the Stanford Seed Training Program for CEOs in 2014.  

Dr K.  Acholonu is an internationally renowned scientist who published three patents in the United States of America (Page 66 of ""Black Inventors written by Keith C. Holmes). The Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST) bestowed him a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019 and was enlisted as a Fellow of The African Scientific Institute in July 2020
