Global Certification Standards and Regulatory Compliance
MLL operates under globally recognized food safety and quality management systems, achieving key certifications and regulatory approvals as follows:
1. FSSC 22000:2009 Version 6 (Implemented April 2025)
MLL recently engaged the services of Bureau Veritas (BV) to implement the FSSC 22000 Version 6, the most up-to-date global food safety standard.

2. Virtual Food Safety Audit (U.S. Standard)
Through a partnership with Particles for Humanity (PFH), MLL underwent a three-month (ending 3rd August 2024) virtual audit conducted by Catalyst Inc., a U.S.-based food safety consulting firm.

3. NAFDAC Compliance (Nigeria)
Micronutrient Laboratories Ltd is fully compliant with the regulatory requirements of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

Holds a valid cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice) certificate issued by the Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (FSAN) Directorate of NAFDAC

Maintains all other regulatory approvals necessary for production in Nigeria.
4. SON MANCAP Certification
Certified under the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Program (MANCAP) by the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON)

Cognito Micronutrient Powder (MNP): A flagship home fortification product designed to address micronutrient deficiencies in children under five. Cognito MNP contains essential vitamins and minerals and is added directly to meals at the household level. Over the past four years, it has positively impacted over one million children across Nigeria.

Multiple Micronutrient Supplement (MMS) Premix: Approved for tableting into MMS tablets, this premix supports nutrient supplementation for women before, during, and after pregnancy, including during lactation. It promotes improved maternal and infant health outcomes.

Bouillon Premix: Developed in response to the inclusion of bouillon as a fortification vehicle, this registered premix enables the delivery of essential micronutrients through commonly consumed bouillon cubes and seasonings.

Flour Premix: MLL’s NAFDAC-approved flour premix is formulated to meet national mandatory fortification standards. It is used for fortifying wheat and maize flour with essential micronutrients such as iron, folic acid, and vitamin A—contributing to the reduction of micronutrient deficiencies in the population.

Additional Custom Premixes: MLL also produces a variety of other premixes formulated to client specifications for applications such as malt and flavored beverages, snacks, and breakfast cereals—each developed in line with both national and international nutritional guidelines.
